Potjiekos 2009
This years winner was our
sister Bernice. The meat was soft and the secret ingredient was sweet potato.
We had a good time tasting the different potjies and spending time in
fellowship.
What is a potjiekos?
It is food cooked in a three-legged caster pot over an open fire.

A
simple recipe: Prepare your coals and make sure they are nice and
hot/warm. Make sure all your meat and veggies are pre-planned as it can go very
fast. PS! Be careful not to burn your hands. Brown your onions, green peppers etc. Add in your favourite meat or chicken. Remember knuckles and nekkies takes longer to prepare. Make sure your meat in tender before adding in your veggies.
Once meat in soft, add your
favourite veggies. Normally, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms. Our winning
ingredient for this year was sweet potato, or yams. Add your favourite stock
for flavour, serve with rice. Great for any outdoors.
